Science day 2006

Every year, the ITM staff present their scientific activities to their colleagues during the Science day.
This year’s theme was: “Past, Present and Future of…”
After an introduction on 100 years ITM, 5 PhD students – 1 per department – summarized their research projects in a simple and plain manner. The Belgian weather played havoc with our idea of celebrating in the garden but despite this small setback the Spanish party afterwards was a great success.

We even had our own post office for one day where our stamp together with a First day cover and First day sheet. Enthusiasts could even post ITM postcards in Room Agora with the special ITM stamp on it. A truly memorable and a bit out of the ordinary event.

Auction by Campo & Campo
In 2000 Moët & Chandon presented the "Antwerp Fashion Five" with a magnum from the collection "Esprit du Temps" (estimated value minimum 19.831 €). They, in turn, presented it to the ITM for the benefit of AIDS research.
Campo & Campo will include the exclusive magnum in the auction at the beginning of 2007. The proceeds will go to AIDS-research.
But next to the Magnum, there are other items such as coats donated by Dries Van Noten, suits from George Michael and Koen Wouters (Clouseau), works of art by Jef Van Grieken, and one set of limited prints of Allard l’Olivier whose wonderful paintings can be found in the entrance hall of the ITM.

Beginning of
2007
Publication: "100 years ITM"
The history of the ITM is full of interesting anecdotes and facts. World-famous scientists, the imposing architecture of our buildings, adventurous experiments… it will all be condensed into one book “100 years ITM”.
Because there are so many different aspects to our story and our archives contain thousands of valuable images, finalizing the book is not as easy as we first thought. However, we hope that by the middle of 2007 our amazing story will be published.
There is already a non-layouted academic version available at the ITM library or via this link.
