1906 was a memorable year: the first dishwasher was sold in the United States, the Panama Canal was being built, Josephine Baker was born, the first radio programme aired. In our own country Leopold II founded the “School voor Tropenziekten” which later became the Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM).
