Researchers from ITM and partner Institut National de Recherche Biomédicale (INRB) in DR Congo contributed to a large-scale study about Salmonella Enteritidis which comprised 675 strains from 45 countries worldwide. The study reveals two novel clades (groups) of Salmonella Enteritidis which are geographically confined to Africa and associated with bloodstream infection and multidrug resistance.
Jacques Pinel was a pioneer in the fight for universal access to quality-assured medicines. Jacques was a pharmacist by background and spent most of his professional life with Doctors Without Borders. He never stopped developing ideas, new projects and new networks, and delighted in sharing his experience, his enthusiasm and his vision with friends and colleagues. He passed away one year ago.
