The Antwerp Institute of Tropical Medicine has launched a fellowship program for selected medical graduates from the U.S. The ITM Damien fellowships 2016-2017, named after Belgian international health pioneer Father Damien, give three medical doctors access to a postgraduate course in Antwerp as a springboard for further specialization in tropical medicine and international health.
The Institute of Tropical Medicine has unveiled an interactive photo exhibition in Antwerp Central Station. It is a monument in honour of the health workers and scientists from Africa, Asia and Latin America who came to the rescue when a fictitious epidemic hit Antwerp in 2020.
2015 is a crucial year for development cooperation: on the one hand we reach the deadline for the millennium goals and on the other hand we will set course for a new orientation of sustainable development cooperation. Under the motto "Our world, our dignity, our future", the development cooperation of the EU and its Member States will be presented to the main public.
We post our activities on development cooperation on the European Year for Development website.
