Among the 3000 participants joining the 47th Union World Conference on Lung Health in Liverpool between 26-29 October 2016 (“Confronting Resistance: Fundamentals to Innovations") there were some former ITM students presenting their work:
1) Two SCREM alumni:
- Jean Claude Semuto (poster presentation entitled: "Does the clinical performance of new tuberculosis diagnostic tools meet the required performance standards under programmatic conditions") and
- Bassirou Diarra (poster presentation: "Use of GeneXpert®MTB/RIF/ cycle threshold (Ct) and monthly culture in the follow-up of MDR-TB patients in Bamako, Mali").
2) QMM alumnus Kimcheng Choun from Cambodia, who also had a poster presentation: "Using Mobile Phones to Ensure that Referred Tuberculosis Patients Reach their Treatment Facilities: a Call that Makes a Difference”.
ITM has started a new blended course on drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR TB) focusing on clinical decision-making aspects of DR TB diagnosis, treatment and care. The registration for the upcoming edition is now closed, but don't hesitate to spread the word about the course.
