It was Jacques' original reflection on access to quality-assured medicines that prompted and fed a number of initiatives, among them the Charter on Quality of Medicines and QUAMED. Both initiatives are supported by ITM. For QUAMED in particular he played an inspiring role, acting as advisor to the Technical Working Group and to the Steering Committee.
Jacques was aware of the importance of continuous education. When he died, he was working on a document aimed at lay people, explaining the challenges linked to poor-quality medicines. A group of friends and colleagues completed the document.
