Janne Wouters is a biomedical researcher and FWO PhD fellow in the Clinical Immunology Unit at the Institute of Tropical Medicine Antwerp. She is particularly interested in human immunology and in understanding immune responses directly in people, bridging clinical research with laboratory and single-cell approaches.
Her PhD centres around the GeKoSkimm clinical trial, which investigates how different routes of yellow fever vaccination influence the induction, location and maturation of tissue-resident memory T cells in human skin. Her work combines clinical research with flow cytometry and single-cell sequencing to study local and systemic T-cell responses following vaccination.
Beyond her PhD project, Janne has a broad interest in infectious diseases, vaccination and translational immunology, and in how emerging technologies can be used to answer clinically relevant questions about human immunity.
