Visit the ITM Safe Space at Antwerp Pride 2024!

Despite more than 40 years of progress, stigma remains a major challenge in HIV care. People living with HIV unfortunately face prejudice on a daily basis. Stigma labels, brands and sticks to people, and this has to stop. Exactly for this reason, social nurses Cora Lamonte and Wenne Mertens have been organising the annual U=U campaign since 2020 to raise awareness and call out for support of people living with HIV.

What is U=U?

The message of our campaign is twofold:

• YOU=YOU emphasises equality between people living with or without a disease such as HIV.

• U=U (Undetectable = Untransmittable) means that, if HIV medication is used correctly, the virus is no longer detectable and therefore not transmittable sexually.
