Over the years, ITM developed a number of educational tools to help students and professionals reach deeper insights into tropical medicine.


Written by ITM experts, WikiTropica provides online course notes on clinical tropical medicine. It is an evidence-based and very elaborate online encyclopedia, but was not made to serve as clinical reference.

Clinical decision-making with Kabisa

Kabisa is a virtual learning environment in which students and physicians can sharpen their diagnostic skills. The software is available as freeware.

Interactive modules of clinical epidemiology 

These include threshold exercises, explanations of latent class analysis, and sessions on Bayes' Theorem.


ITM Labhub gathers training materials, tools and resources of laboratory themes. It offers support for medical research and reference laboratories in low resource settings.


Mendeley is a free reference manager that can help you store, organise, note, share and cite references and research data.

Open Data Kit (ODK)

Open Data Kit (ODK) is a free and open-source set of software tools for collecting, managing, and using data in resource-constrained environments. This online course focuses on developing ODK surveys and uploading and downloading data to and from a public server.


QGIS is a free and open-source application for viewing, editing, printing, and analysing geospatial data. This online course focuses on mapping georeferenced data and basic spatial analysis.
