Outcome Coordinator - FA6 Programme “The Health We Share” 2027–2031

ITM is preparing the implementation of its next multi-year institutional cooperation programme, “The Health We Share” 2027–2031. The programme will be structured around five outcomes and implemented in close collaboration between partner institutions, ITM units, scientific teams, and central support services.

To strengthen programme coherence and scientific integration, the programme has a multi-country thematic setup across 5 outcomes and 9 pathfinder clusters. To allow adaptive management and budget stewardship, ITM is creating new Outcome Coordinator roles.

For the outcome 1 (Preparedness) and outcome 2 (Elimination) we are looking for internal candidates: (mid-career) scientific staff who combine thematic expertise with a strong interest in programme management, coordination and institutional collaboration.

The Outcome Coordinators will work within a scientific unit at ITM, form part of the programme governance structure and work closely with the International Cooperation Office, cluster co-leads, partner institutions, scientific units, CROO, finance colleagues and programme leadership.

Your responsibilities:

As Outcome Coordinator, you will take a central role in the strategic, scientific and operational coordination of one programme outcome. You will connect scientific teams, partner institutions, cluster co-leads and central support services and help translate the programme strategy into coherent implementation.

• Coordinate planning, implementation and follow-up across the clusters and partners within your outcome.

• Safeguard scientific and strategic coherence and stimulate learning and collaboration across clusters, countries and partner institutions.

• Work closely with cluster co-leads and partners to translate scientific priorities into feasible programme plans.

• Contribute to budget planning and resource prioritisation, connecting financial decisions with scientific and implementation priorities.

• Monitor progress, identify risks and bottlenecks, and support programme learning, reporting and adaptation.

• Contribute to programme governance by preparing outcome-level updates and decision points and escalating issues where needed.

Your profile:

We are looking for an ITM colleague who combines scientific credibility with a strong interest in programme coordination and institutional collaboration.

• You have a scientific profile relevant to the programme and at least 5 years of relevant professional experience.

• You have experience in research, capacity strengthening, institutional cooperation or related fields; experience with earlier framework agreements is an asset.

• You understand international partnerships and collaboration with institutions in low- and middle-income countries.

• You are able and willing to work across disciplines, departments and partner institutions.

• You have strong coordination, communication and facilitation skills and can translate complex scientific and operational information into clear priorities and follow-up.

• You are comfortable engaging with programme planning, budgets and resource prioritisation without needing to be a financial expert.

• Fluency in English is essential. Professional proficiency in French is required.

• You are able and willing to travel internationally several times each year.

• A salary based on your relevant professional experience. ITM applies Hay salary scales. This position is classified in Hay scale 15, with a minimum gross salary of 4.629,21 euro FTE. 

The following Outcome Coordinator assignments are currently open:

• Outcome 1 – Preparedness: 1.0 FTE, with the possibility of dividing the role between two colleagues at 0.5 FTE each.

• Outcome 2 – Control and Elimination: 0.75 FTE.

The exact match between candidates and outcomes will be assessed based on expertise, experience, motivation and programme needs. For assignments that are not full-time, suitable arrangements regarding task distribution will be agreed upon with the relevant unit head.

This role is particularly suited for mid-career scientists who wish to broaden their contribution beyond research and/or individual projects and take up a stronger programme-level role.
