Clinical Decision-Making for Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis

This blended course provides interdisciplinary, interactive training in the diagnosis, treatment and clinical decision-making in drug-resistant TB. It consists of 10 weeks of online training, followed by two weeks of on-campus training.

Eligibility criteria

  • The course targets clinicians working in the field of DR TB. Participants should be medical professionals directly involved in clinical management of tuberculosis.
  • To participate in the online and the face-to-face course, access to a computer and internet connection is required. Recommended browsers: Firefox, Google Chrome (not Internet explorer).
  • The minimum language requirements are proof of a TOEFL iBT score of 79-93, an IELTS score of 6.5 or other qualifying evidence (e.g. ITACE, Duolingo English test) of an English CEFR level of B2-C1 meaning a higher tier B2 or C1. A higher tier B2 will generally mean a B2 on all components of language proficiency and would have to be evidenced. (ITM Toefl Code = 7727). Native English speakers are exempt from these language requirements. Applicants whose first language is not English are exempt if they have successfully completed a higher education programme of at least 60 ECTS credits taught in English or have a higher education diploma from a Flemish Community higher education institution.

Your diploma and transcript can be provided in English, French, Spanish, German or Dutch. Otherwise, a certified translation must be uploaded as well.


DGD scholarships

With the financial support of the Belgian Directorate-General for Development Cooperation (DGD), ITM is able to offer complete scholarships to applicants from developing countries. You can apply for this scholarship, whilst applying for the course.

Eligibility criteria for the DGD scholarship: https://www.itg.be/en/study/scholarships-to-study-at-itm + at least two years of professional experience are required.

Selection criteria

Candidates will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Active work experience in DR TB care
  • Previous attendance in DR TB courses
  • Profile as shown in the Curriculum Vitae
  • Motivation letter (including a description of the challenges in DR TB care you are confronted with and the commitment from own home institution in supporting your application)
  • A written description of a topic that shows challenges with diagnosis and/or the treatment of DR TB 
  • Completeness of the application dossier
