General information

The “Ecology, Epidemiology and Control of Infectious Diseases” short course will introduce you to the concept and application of eco-epidemiological models for infectious disease control. It is offered online, in collaboration with the University of Antwerp, Belgium. There are no scholarships available for this course.

Learning objectives

  • Explain the ecology of infectious diseases and how ecological dynamics are important in the development of disease control strategies, and able to explain the role of models as tools to this effect
  • Explain how the environment affects the distribution of an infectious disease, throughs effects on the parasites, vectors and hosts.
  • Explain how environmental interventions can contribute to infectious disease management.
