Short Bio:
I am currently an Adjunct Professor at Faculty of Medicine - Federal University of Bahia, Associate Researcher at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation and CNPq Productivity Scholar Level 2. Since 2004, I have worked extensively on the human immunopathogenesis to a variety of pathogens, including HIV, HTLV, Leishmania spp, ZIKV and CHIKV. During this period, I have developed skills in molecular and cellular biology and bioinformatics, being involved in studies using data mining and integrative analysis of virus genome sequences, transcriptomics, immunological, clinical, and epidemiological data. Most recently, I led the implementation of an Advanced Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory at Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, Bahia to assist in the national effort for the molecular diagnosis of COVID-19 and detection of VOCs through genetic sequencing of viral isolates.
