Be-IMPACT workshop

About this event

Be-IMPACT is a national initiative led by ITM, addressing the rise in malaria cases among returning travellers in Belgium and the emergence of malaria parasites becoming resistant to first-line treatment. Bringing together eight academic hospitals across Belgium, the project runs until the end of 2028 and takes a multidisciplinary approach, examining traveller behaviour, medical follow-up, surveillance and the parasite itself, to strengthen collaboration across prevention, diagnosis, treatment and policy.

Objectives of this event

The be-IMPACT meeting brings together experts from across patient management, prevention and surveillance to foster dialogue between different public health perspectives.

Key objectives:

• Strengthening collaboration between clinicians, prevention agencies, policymakers and project partners

• Bridging frontline clinical experience with prevention-focused policy

• Aligning the be-IMPACT project's work packages

• Gathering stakeholder feedback to inform project outputs
