Pediatric Vaccines and T-Cell Cross-Reactivity: Lessons from Poxviruses and Enteroviruses (Alba Grifoni)

We are pleased to welcome Dr Alba Grifoni for a guest lecture at the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp. Alba Grifoni is an immunologist at the La Jolla Institute for Immunology, where her research focuses on T-cell responses to infectious diseases and vaccination. Her work has contributed extensively to understanding cellular immunity to viral infections, including mpox.

In this guest lecture, she will discuss recent insights into mpox immunity, with a particular focus on immune responses following infection and vaccination.

Speaker

Dr Grifoni is a Research Assistant Professor at the La Jolla Institute for Immunology. She leads a research programme focused on integrating bioinformatics and experimental immunology to drive pandemic preparedness. Building on a foundation of over 190 publications (h-index: 56), the laboratory investigates T-cell cross-reactivity across more than 10 viral families, including Coronaviridae, Orthopoxviridae, and Enteroviridae.
