Anke Breine is a research scientist at the Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM) in Antwerp, Belgium. She earned her Master’s degree in Bioengineering Sciences from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in 2019, after which she began her doctoral research in the VIB-VUB Center for Structural Biology. Her PhD research focused on the discovery and development of alternative strategies to combat an antibiotic-resistant bacterium. Following her PhD, Anke joined ITM’s Unit of Tropical Bacteriology, where she now contributes to cutting-edge diagnostic projects adapted to low-resource settings.
