Expert workshop: Are migrants (really) a hard-to-reach group?

Challenges and facilitators of conducting research with migrant populations.

More people than ever live in another country than the one in which they were born. However, migrant populations are still underrepresented in public health research. In this workshop, we will discuss the challenges and facilitators of conducting research with diverse migrant populations, as well as strategies to address these challenges. The workshop offers opportunities for interactive discussion and self-reflection.

Speaker: Saleh Aljadeeah

Short Bio:
Saleh Aljadeeah is a postdoctoral researcher at the ITM with humanitarian fieldwork and research experience with migrant populations. His main field of interest is access to essential medicines in humanitarian settings, including in conflict zones and among forcibly displaced populations.

Register: This session is exclusively open to ITM staff. Please check our schedule for upcoming sessions that are open to all.

About the Workshop Series:
This workshop is part of the bi-monthly "Migration, (Im)mobility, and Global Health" series. Led by ITM's Equity and Health/Sexual and Reproductive Health units, this initiative aims to bring together researchers from ITM and beyond who work on the health of migrant and mobile populations in various contexts. The series seeks to go beyond conventional presentations and discussions by incorporating learning and skills exchange components. It aims to facilitate dialogue between researchers working in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs) and High-Income Countries (HICs) and provide a platform for establishing collaborative links and networks for writing, teaching, research, and capacity-building in this area.
