The Department of Clinical Sciences concentrates on patient-based research, training and services both in Belgium and in developing countries, with emphasis on tropical and infectious diseases, including HIV/AIDS. The department also runs the Medical Services, a national reference center for tropical, infectious and imported diseases and HIV/AIDS.
The outpatient clinic of ITM, one of the Department of Clinical Sciences' flagship programs, is responsible for service delivery, expert advice, research, and training across all aspects of Infectious Diseases.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed specialist in internal medicine and clinical infectiologist to join our medical team at the ITM outpatient clinic.
Your role
· You will work as an internal medicine physician in the outpatient clinic of ITM. You will conduct consultations in HIV care, STI care, tropical medicine as well as pre- and post-travel medicine.
· You will be on call for the Infectious Diseases Unit and the High Isolation Unit of the University Hospital of Antwerp. You work in rotation with colleagues from the ITM and from the University Hospital.
· Depending on your interests and skills, you will contribute to the teaching and/or research activities and studies in ITM, in a broader national network or in international collaborations.
· You report to the Head of the HIV Reference Center at ITM.
Your profile
· You are a medical doctor, with a specialization in internal medicine and clinical infectiology. You arecertified and registered to practise in Belgium (or eligible and willing to obtain Belgian registration).
· Holding a diploma in tropical medicine is considered an advantage.
· Clinical experience in infectious and tropical diseases is an asset, as well as international working experience.
· You are a good communicator and team player.
· You have an excellent knowledge of Dutch, French and English.
