HIV/STI tests
Were you at risk of HIV or other STIs and do you have concerns? If so, please consult one of our specialists.
HIV/STI tests at ITM
There are two ways to get tested for HIV and STIs at the institute:
Make an appointment with a medical doctor (standard appointment)
Make an appointment with a nurse (low-threshold appointment)
Standard appointment for an HIV/STI test
The standard way to get an HIV/STI test is by making an appointment with one of our specialists in HIV and STIs (a medical doctor).
Low-threshold appointment for an HIV/STI test
Under certain conditions, we offer accessible sexual health counselling and care, free of charge, to vulnerable population groups and people with an increased risk of becoming infected with HIV and STIs. These include:
Africans and other immigrants from countries with high HIV prevalence
Men who have sex with men (MSM)
Drug users who use needles
Newcomers without access to regular health care
Customers of sex workers
Individuals who were at high risk of contracting an STI (occasional partners, multiple partners, partners belonging to one of these risk groups)
Individuals who absolutely need to remain anonymous and were at risk of infection.
Are you unsure if you're eligible for a low-threshold consultation? Contact us by calling +32(0)32476666 and ask to speak to someone of Helpcenter. No medical advice will be given over the phone.
Helpcenter only offers consultations with nurses, not with doctors. If you wish to see a doctor, you have to make a regular appointment instead of an appointment at Helpcenter.
Which tests do we offer?
HIV antibodies
Hepatitis A, B and C
Syphilis
Chlamydia

We analyse samples in our own Clinical Reference Laboratory.
