The Institute of Tropical Medicine launches new season of podcast ‘Transmission’
The Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM) in Antwerp announces the launch of season two of its podcast 'Transmission' on 23 May. Across four captivating episodes, ITM researchers offer listeners a deep dive into the complexities of public health systems, exploring their vulnerabilities and discussing ways to fortify them.
“Well, we wake up angry every day. That's the way you get going, right? You wake up and you know there’s this huge injustice.” says Lenka Beňová, ITM’s Professor of Maternal and Reproductive Health in the trailer.
Lenka is among the experts guiding listeners through the episodes. The journey spans from conflict zones to indigenous communities, from Syria to India, from Belgium to Zambia. It addresses challenges such as traffic jams that delay access to care, as well as combating addictions through activities like … frisbee. The overarching mission is clear: achieving health for all. Yet, this is not without hurdles, including racism, conflict, lifestyle choices, inequalities, and stigma. ‘Transmission’ invites listeners to witness ITM’s researchers and their international partners’ battles against these barriers.
Tune in to ‘Transmission’ for a new episode every Thursday starting 23 May, available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, and the ITM website.
Discover the compelling stories in the trailer and revisit the gripping narratives from season one, focusing on outbreaks and emerging infectious diseases.
Belgian Podcast Awards
Transmission has been nominated for the Belgian Podcast Awards in the 'Science & Tech' category. Voting is still open until 15 May.
