2000 people visit ITM on Open Monuments Day
The Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITG) opened its doors last Sunday for a special Open Monument Day. The iconic Art Deco building on Nationalestraat, designed by architects Marcel Spittael and Paul Lebon, became the stage for a day filled with history, science, and architecture. With 2,000 visitors, the event was a resounding success.

Architecture and science take centre stage
Guests enjoyed a poetic art installation by Sam Thys in the water basin at our clinic, guided tours of the main building and the former convent of Campus Rochus, and a glimpse into the ITM’s rich past. The photo booth, the award-winning podcast Transmission, and a pop-up shop with ITM souvenirs added to the memorable experience.
