In an official ceremony at the Palace of the Academies in Brussels, Adwine Vanslembrouck received the Dubois-Brigué Scholarship grant from the Belgian Royal Academy of Medicine (KAGB) as recognition of her outstanding contribution to the field of tropical medicine. Also present at the ceremony were her supervisors Prof Dr Ruth Müller and Prof Dr Herwig Leirs, and her colleagues from the Department of Biomedical Sciences of ITM.

The KAGB is an institution of the Flemish Community which acts as an advisory body to the Flemish and federal governments and encourages scientific research by awarding prizes. Within Tropical Medicine, the KAGB annually awards two prizes: the Dubois-Brigué Prize and the Dubois-Brigué Scholarship. The Dubois-Brigué Scholarship, amounting to €50,000, will provide essential support for Adwine's final year of doctoral research. It will help her complete her thesis and publish one or more articles highlighting the results of her work. The jury highlighted Adwine's exceptional work with her research project 'Influence of biodiversity and climate change on the risk of mosquito-borne diseases in Europe', and the significance of her research in addressing the impact of climate change on the spread of mosquito-borne diseases.

Congratulations to Adwine and her supervisors, Ruth Müller and Herwig Leirs!
