Quiet waters run deep

ITM has launched a campaign to highlight its heritage.

Right next to the outpatient clinic, in the public art deco garden surrounding ITM, lies a water basin. It is part of our heritage. Locally, people refer to it as “the pond,” “the swimming pool,” or “the water feature.” It has been empty for decades, and although there are plausible theories about its original purpose, this has never been confirmed with certainty.

Uncovering the history of our water basin

To unravel the mysterious story of the basin, we are joining forces with De Wijkkroniek, a neighbourhood blog about Antwerp’s Sint-Andries district. All summer long, they will share the mystery in multiple episodes under the title Still Waters, via their website and social media. This way, we can also reach people who may not be familiar with ITM.

Why this project?

  • To make ITM’s heritage more visible to the neighbourhood and the wider public;

  • To draw attention to our Heritage Fund;

  • And to raise funds to eventually restore the basin.
