This was Nerdland Festival 2024!

On 25 and 26 May 2024, we were in full glory at the Nerdland Festival, the most epic science festival of Belgium! We took visitors on a journey through the world of mosquitoes and tropical diseases such as malaria and sleeping sickness.

Our booth was buzzing with energy, featuring activities and demos, all focused on discovering these tiny but oh-so-important critters and the diseases they spread. From catching mosquitoes to testing your knowledge in our quiz ‘The Smartest Mosquito in the World’, there was something for everyone! Our card game ‘Malaria Outbreak’ was a blast, encouraging visitors to protect their fellow players from malaria.

The youngest visitors were challenged to embark on a virus hunt, a scavenger hunt across the entire festival site. Like real sleuths and armed with an adventure map, they searched for possible carriers of diseases such as the tiger mosquito and the tsetse fly. A great and educational way to understand how diseases like dengue and sleeping sickness can be prevented.

A huge shout-out to everyone who dropped by. Your enthusiasm made our festival adventure extra special. We can't wait to be part of it again next year!
