Do you have several years of experience working as a journalist and do you live and work in Africa, Asia or Latin America? Are you fascinated by infectious diseases and do you closely follow developments concerning COVID-19? Then you are the perfect candidate for the journalist-in-residence programme 2020 of the Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM) in Antwerp.

Every year, ITM welcomes journalists from all over the world to immerse themselves in tropical medicine and public health. This year's seventh edition of the programme will be entirely virtual. From Tuesday 27 October to Thursday 29 October, ITM will organise its very first online colloquium. For three days, COVID-19 experiences from around the world will be discussed and renowned experts will talk about the direct and indirect effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on local and global health.

If you are selected for this year’s journalist-in-residence programme, you will have the opportunity to report extensively about the colloquium. You will get to delve into the subject matter, attend all sessions of the online event and interview world-renowned experts.

The initiative is part of ITM's capacity building programme in developing countries, financed by the Belgian Directorate-General for Development (DGD). Read about the previous journalists-in-residence.
