An infectious disease anywhere is an infectious disease everywhere

In a new film produced in partnership with Health Workers for Development, experts from the Institute of Tropical Medicine Antwerp show why funding for global health is a smart investment for Europe, not just the communities it reaches first.

Featuring Prof Gorik Ooms, Prof Bouke de Jong, Dr Mwelwa M Phiri, and Deogratias Katsuva Sibongwere, the film draws on their research and experience to make the case that global health security is not something Europe can achieve alone. 

The surveillance systems, diagnostics and health workforce built through global health funding don't just protect the communities that receive that funding  - they're also part of what keeps outbreaks from reaching Europe's door.
