Participant recruitment for the SIMBLE study took place from 26 December 2023 to 11 September 2024 at the site of CHU-YO, Burkina Faso, during which 531 participants were enrolled. Barbara Barbé and Gaëtan Van Aelst, respectively the principal investigator (PI) and monitor of the study at ITM, travelled to Ouagadougou to do a final monitoring visit from 18 to 20 March 2025. They verified the informed consent forms and performed source data verification. Most corrections were done on site and a few pending issues were noted in the monitoring report. A first shipment of bacterial isolates took place during this visit, for which confirmation will be done by MALDI-TOF at ITM. Next, the database will be cleaned and closed, followed by the data analysis.

Congratulations to the Burkinabe study team for their dedication and collaboration during the SIMBLE field study!
