Pharmaceutical policies in health systems

Studying at ITM in Antwerp has been one of the most valuable experiences of my professional journey. I completed my Master of Public Health in 2024. As a pharmacist, the programme significantly broadened my perspective and strengthened my professional practice. It helped me understand health systems and public health challenges beyond the medicines and pharmacy perspective, while giving me practical tools that I could apply in my work.

My experience at ITM was so valuable that I returned in 2026 to undertake the short course in Pharmaceutical Policies in Health Systems. This further deepened my understanding of pharmaceutical policy and strengthened my ability to contribute to improving medicines and health systems in my own country.

Another aspect I truly valued was the multicultural and multiprofessional learning environment. Having classmates from different countries and professional backgrounds made the classroom incredibly enriching. We constantly learned from one another, sharing experiences and practical solutions from our respective health systems. I particularly appreciated being able to draw lessons from countries facing challenges similar to those we experience in Malawi.

Beyond the classroom, I also enjoyed living in Antwerp. I loved the city's culture, its diversity, and, perhaps surprisingly, even the weather!(easy way to make friends with Belgians just complain about the weather. lol!) The experience gave me an opportunity to grow not only professionally but also personally.

I would strongly encourage anyone considering studying at ITM to apply. The practical learning, multicultural environment, experienced faculty, and exposure to different health systems make it a truly worthwhile experience. You will not regret it!
