Our researchers conduct more than 100 scientific projects in the fields of tropical medicine and international health. Our teaching staff welcomes more than 500 professionals from around the world each academic year to attend our highly regarded medical courses. Reporting to the Head of the Process Management office (PMO), the AI Transformation Lead defines and implements the institutional AI strategy and supports the mandate of the ITM AI Committee. The ITM AI Committee is recently established governance body with a clear mandate, defined membership and decision-making authority over AI proof of concepts. This new role acts as a bridge between research, education, medical and administrative services and AI driven solutions. Identifying where AI creates value and translating opportunities into concrete, feasible initiatives in collaboration with research units, policy offices (education, research & innovation, and international cooperation), our clinic and administrative units.
Your tasks and responsibilities:
AI Governance & Coordination
- Operate at portfolio level, ensuring that AI initiatives are prioritised, governed and scaled in line with institutional strategy.
- Serve as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for the ITM AI Committee and liaise across different units
- Define the institutional AI strategy and translate into clear, timebound roadmaps
- Track AI proof of concepts (POCs) across research, education, medical services and administration
- Support POC intake and budget follow-up
- Define success metrics, KPIs, and evaluation criteria for AI POCs
- Ensure alignment with the institutional AI strategy, governance framework and PMO portfolio processes
AI Opportunity Identification
- Identify and assess high-value AI use cases (e.g., ML, NLP, computer vision, generative AI)
- Monitor relevant AI developments and evaluate applicability within ITM
Business Analysis & Requirements Gathering
- Analyse processes, challenges, and opportunities for AI integration and process improvements.
- Translate approved AI POCs into scalable projects and clear requirements for IT teams.
Project Delivery & Stakeholder Management
- Support end-to-end delivery of scaling up AI POCs into projects
- Facilitate workshops, demos, and training sessions to strengthen AI literacy and adoption.
- Report AI committee activities towards the head of PMO and work closely with the PMO team to ensure alignment with the PMO portfolio.
Data & Technology
- Collaborate with IT technical leads and scientist to ensure data readiness for AI models, feasibility, safety, cloud security, data management and long-term sustainability.
Your profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Business, Information Systems, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience as an AI Business Analyst, AI Transformation Lead, AI program manager or similar role
- Proven track record in AI transformation initiatives
- Strong understanding of AI technologies and their organizational applications
- Solid understanding of AI/ML concepts and lifecycle
- Knowledge of data visualization is a plus
- Experience working with cross-functional teams (IT, data, business)
- Experience in stakeholder management
- Excellent communication, analytical, facilitation and problem solving skills
- Professional knowledge of English is required
